Teach the Teacher Sustain offers a refresher training workshop and strategies to assist schools to continue participating in Teach the Teacher after they have completed the Empower, Ignite or the original Teach the Teacher training models.

Teach the Teacher provides students with skills and the opportunity to engage teachers and staff in conversations about issues in school that are impacting on their learning. These student-led conversations provide the space for teachers and students to collaborate in bringing about positive change in school communities.


What’s included in Teach the Teacher Sustain?

VicSRC workshop. Students and teachers participate in a 2 hour refresher workshop. Topics covered:

  • the basic principles and practices of Teach the Teacher (especially useful for new students that have not previously been involved in the program.)
  • strategies to ensure the program is sustainable in the long term at your school

Ongoing phone and email support from the VicSRC Project Officer.

Opportunities for students to showcase school at VicSRC presentations and workshops.

Students’ personal leadership, communication and problem solving skills are developed through a range of active and reflective activities.Students have the opportunity to engage in peer-to-peer teaching and learning and build on their strengths to develop:

  • an understanding of student voice and representation
  • an greater understanding of teaching and learning
  • their potential to be leaders through a student-led professional learning session
  • their own unique approach to leadership
  • an increased understanding of their personal strengths and skills
  • effective communication skills
  • a willingness to create a more inclusive school culture

Cluster price per school    $750 (+GST)

Please provide:

Drama room, multipurpose room or double-sized classroom with tables and chairs.

Projector with audio, projector screen and separate white board.

After each of the workshops students will return to school and continue to plan for, prepare and run their Teach the Teacher professional development session.
